Q: We at CECI already know you well. So we apologize in advance for asking the next question. As the name of your comeback single suggests, we will ask you the following common question “What’s your name?” Please introduce yourself in less than 15 syllables.

The girl who loves being on stage so much that she couldn’t live without it, Jihyun.

Q: Jihyun, the name that left a big impact on male idols. Did you receive any confession recently?

To be honest, rather than directly being asked out, I was told by my circle of friends that some people were interested in me. Truthfully, I’m not really popular?! Haha. Because I’m usually known as the ordinary member, so I don’t really have the chance to give people my contact details and I’m also not the type to start conversations during arranged meetings which I hate and find awkward. Now that I think about it, it may look like I enjoy living a boring life.

Q: The leader’s burden must be no joke.

If I said it wasn’t, it would be a lie. Even so, I tend to be cool about it and smile it away while working hard. I believe that seeing our hard work come to fruition after practicing for long hours until the sweat drips scatters any doubt we could have. As the oldest unnie, I feel obligated to brag about my younger members. 4minute is really cool. Even though they look imposing, they are surprisingly gentle and innocent yet very skilled. Although they look like in their element as idols on stage and play hard, it’s only a part they play. Their image off stage is a complete reversal.

Q: At the peak of your promotional activities, we heard Hyunah collapsed and we worried a lot. (This interview was conducted on May 13. [On the day of her discharge from the hospital.]

We couldn’t do anything besides being worried. It would be great if none of us would fall sick ever. (Here she stopped before she could continue, with teary eyes.) We shouldn’t only eat delicious things, but things that are healthy and good for the body! That’s what we must eat! (laughs)

130426 4Minute Cafe Daum Update: Sohyun’s Post ” Finally”

Today is finally 4minute’s first broadcast day ㅎ A little while more, the song will be revealed and the MV will also be revealed ㅎㅎ Thank you for waiting so long.  As much as that, please do download and stream for the song ㅋㅋ Pleaseㅋㅋㅋㅋ Even if I don’t say this, everyone would know ㅋ right?ㅋ Now I’m in the car on the way to Music Bank ㅋㅋ And so I’ve written this post. I actually wanted to write it yesterday. But the shoot ended very late ㅎ ㅜㅜㅜ So I was rambling ㅋㅋ and (therefore) I wrote this when I’m on my way to MuBank ㅋㅋㅋ Today is the start.

Coming back after a year with their 5th album, 4minute members Hyuna and Gayoon have transformed into icons of the 1960s. With their muse looks, both ladies emancipated a different vibe despite the twin concept.

“We really do look like twins, don’t we? This is the first time we’re having a photoshoot just the two of us.  As soon as we heard that we’re going to do a twin concept, we wondered if both of us would suit each other, but seeing at how our poses turned out, we really do look like twins.” – Hyuna

“Gayoon-eonnie  is close to everyone. (This is because) She doesn’t frown and has a kind and gentle personality. In the team, she’s the most adult-like person. I hope to have such qualities of hers.” – Hyuna

“Each members personally came up with hair, makeup and outfit ideas for our 5th album. During Gayoon-eonnie’s promotion as 2YOON, She bought a rookie designer’s shoes in Thailand just for our new album. Her passion towards fashion is really amazing.” – Hyuna

“HyunBak! Faster get changed and have pizza!”, “HeoKka, watch this video. It’s really exciting, isn’t it?” Calling each others’ nickname during the photoshoot, their chatting and teasing looks really resemble a pair of biological sisters. To 4minute Hyuna and Gayoon, the both of them have indeed developed a close bond since their trainee days and even becoming members of the same team.

“Since the members’ names are similar, we call each other nicknames. ‘HeoKka’ is Heo Gayoon, ‘HyunBak’ would be Hyuna then. If one of the members calls someone with a nickname, then the rest of us will follow too.” The two ladies differ from their usual image where they put on a strong performance stage, singing charismatically ever since their debut song ‘Hot Issue’, ‘Mirror Mirror’ even till  ’Volume Up’. In reality, they are filled with laughter, and are like cute girls still going through their puberty stage. It was their first time shooting for a photoshoot together. While excited Hyuna is preparing her hair and make up, she couldn’t stop searching for interesting videos from her phone. She would then show Gayoon and other staffs, creating a friendly atmosphere at the studio. Every time that happens, Gayoon would respond or ‘Ssik’ while laughing, playing a role as the older eonnie.

“Gayoon-eonnie has this quietness but compared to me, she’s always mature, so she could do well with anyone. I have this straightforwardness, since I’ll express myself clearly. Unlike me, (Gayoon) eonnie’s expression doesn’t show. She has this gentle and kind personality in nature. Oh yes, I’m envious of eonnie’s thin ankles and vocals.” Hyuna’s praises made Gayoon smiled a little.

“Hyuna may expressed that she hates it to the other person, but still she’s pretty while doing it.  She has this lovely character that you just can’t hate on. (Laughs) It seems like she’s born with this beauty. I’m really jealous of Hyuna’s sexiness that only she can portray on stage.” On other normal days too, they’ll be talking unreservedly about each other’s strong and weak points with the other members as well. They even wondered how it would turned out if someone were to compile all strong and weak points of every members.

“Before our debut, 10 trainees went through a survival war in hopes of becoming a 4minute member. We felt that we would become the chosen 4minute members. There’s this intuition about it. Since we shined the most when the five of us practice together.” It was apparent that the 5 of them possess different personalities, but amazing as well when they combine together as 4minute. All of the members have strong greeds. They would talk on many issues such as area of interest, music, fashion while not forgetting to provide advises to each other.

“We want to show a lot in this 5th album. Maknae SoHyunie has turned 21 years old, so things  we want to express on have become broader. The new album concept takes us back to our initial intention with concepts such as ‘I’m the best’, ‘I’m the strongest’. This album also includes humorous lyrics girlfriends could relate to in their daily lives. We are currently practicing more than 6 hours a day for our comeback stage. Since we’re attempting a new performance stage, all the members have felt that they’ve indeed improved a lot.”

“We’ve seen quite a lot of muse looks from the 1960s in magazines. We seemed to have seen the outfits before but since we’re wearing them personally, we’re really excited. The Prada shoes that we’ve tried was one that we wanted to try for quite some while, it’s like our wishes have been granted. (Laughs)” – Gayoon

“When we’re with the members, we feel comfortable and we like it. The five of us will talk non-stop even other girl groups or staffs would be jealous of us. Between us, we would give straightforward suggestions regarding fashion, human relations, music, dance and sometimes, we would talk about rated topics too. (Laughs)” – Gayoon

Looking back to the beginning, to be able to reflect is a good thing,

I was able to think of all the lucky happenings.

As I carry out all the many schedules in magazine companies, news agency, radio, TV broadcast in Japan,

Suddenly I remembered the similar schedules I had when we first debut.

We smiled a little more then, we prepared more cooler words then.. All these thoughts appeared.

So that as time flies later on, we would not want to regret now.

We really smiled diligently, progressed with interviews diligently, as well as filming diligently.
